First round announcement – the 3rd CBSTES

by ACPB Board on 06/04/2021

In the past two years, the Association of Chinese Professionals in Belgium (ACPB) and China Belgium Technology Center (CBTC) have twice successfully hosted the “China-Belgium Science and Technology Exchange Symposium ” (CBSTES). In 2019, nearly two hundred professionals in the fields of medicine and health, information technology, high-end manufacturing, and modern agriculture from China and Belgium gathered together in Brussels, the capital of the European Union, and discussed the bright prospects of scientific and technological cooperation between China and Belgium. In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic has posed greater challenges to basic scientific research and their transformation to applications. ACPB and CBTC once again worked together to overcome various difficulties and held the second CBSTES as scheduled in November 2020. In the virtual symposium, Chinese and Belgian scientists and professionals gathered in online venues and offline venues in Beijing, Wuhan, Hainan, Weifang, etc., to discuss the challenges and opportunities faced by China-Belgium technological innovation and R&D during the pandemic. The symposium was again a big success, complemented by the participants including officials, Chinese and Belgian science and technology professionals, entrepreneurs and international students.

2021 is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium. It’s the common wish of the professionals in both countries to review and outlook the scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges between China and Belgium. Although the current pandemic situation is still critical, ACPB and CBTC decided to organize and host the third CBSTES. As preliminarily planned, the symposium will be held on October 29-30, 2021 in Brussels, Beijing and Wuhan as a hybrid webinar event. The symposium will focus on topics including health and biomedicine, information technology, space exploration, smart manufacturing, green economy, and business and trade cooperation.

Professionals from both countries will share and discuss the successful experience and outstanding achievements in scientific and technological cooperation over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. The booming Sino-European economic and trade exchanges will undoubtedly bring more opportunities and trigger higher demands to the cooperation between Chinese and Belgian companies. The 3rd CBSTES will discuss and look into new opportunities and challenges in the post-pandemic era with the participants, by organizing sessions of exchange and roadshows of trade cooperation and promotion of investment projects.
