— ACPB donates to Belgian medical institutions and hospitals
Jointly organized by the Association of Chinese Professionals in Belgium (ACPB), the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Belgium and the “Keep-Going Wuhan!”Fundraising Team from France, the first batch of donated items for Belgian medical institutions to help protect medical staff against Covid-19. 384 pairs of CE certified medical protective glasses have been successfully handed over to CHU Brugmann Horta in Brussels on March 16, 2020. The chairman of Doctors Committee of CHU Brugmann Horta, Professor JANI Jacques, and the department chief Dr. ANDREW Carlin, accepted the donation on behalf of CHU Brugmann and all IRIS hospitals including St Pierre and Brussels Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Xu Zhian, Chairman of ACPB, conveyed the greetings and blessings from Belgian Chinese Community to the hospital’s staff. He sincerely hopes that these glasses could be helpful for the Belgian medical staff at most needed places. The Belgian Chinese Community stands together with all Belgians to fight against Covid-19 and together we have confidence to win this battle.
On March 17th, the second batch of donated medical protective glasses with 96 pairs was handed over to the Affiliated Hospital of Ghent University under the witness of Dr. Xu Zhian, Professor Zhang Weihong (Vice Chairman of HR & Science and Technology of ACPB) and Dr. Wei Ruifang (member of ACPB). Professor Piet HOEBEKE, Dean of the School of Medicine in Ghent University, expressed his gratitude for the donation of ACPB at this critical and urgent moment in the fighting against Covid-19 in Belgium.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the begin of January 2020 in China, ACPB had already donated 4 batches of medical protective products to medical staff in Wuhan, China as support. This last lot, partly sponsored by the ”Keep-Going Wuhan!“ Fundraising Team from France, was intended for Wuhan, China also.
As the situation in Wuhan and the rest of China is improving and stabilizing, and Europe is experiencing a shortage of medical supplies due to the speed spread of Covid-19, the ACPB, the embassy of China in Belgium and the “Keep-Going Wuhan!” Fundraising Team made the decision to donate medical supplies to local hospitals and they will continue to donate the supplies that are still on the way to Belgium.
Just as the touching messages printed at the outside of each donated cartons in 4 languages, this is the symphony from every heart of Belgian Chinese:
